Dalmatia is an alternative rock / shoegaze band born in San Francisco, California. Dalmatia’s music lives in a San Francisco dreamscape, with their biggest inspiration being the Bay Area music scene and their peers. The band’s visual identity revolves around San Francisco itself.
Dalmatia’s sound can be described just like the famous San Francisco weather pattern, called the ‘marine-layer’ which shifts the mood citywide as a thick layer of fog rolls in from the Pacific Ocean.
Established at the end of 2024, the band started out as a duo with just Autumn(vocals) and Jax (guitar), who met online with the shared desire of starting a band. The name Dalmatia derives from their shared love of Sublime, and the band’s resident Dalmatian ‘Lou Dog’- which Jax has a tattoo of. Within a month of knowing each other, they wrote the first three Dalmatia songs, which became the Namesake EP. Soon after, they recruited Cole (drums), and Jax‘s old friend and past bandmate, Joe (guitar), to complete the four-piece.
Dalmatia’s mission is to bring back the spirit of the 90s with a focus on analog media, shimmering guitar-heavy soundscapes, and distant vocals. Dalmatia blends a unique sound with a nostalgic Bay Area identity at the center of a sonic revival.
With each member drawing inspiration from bands including Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Momma, and The Cranberries, Dalmatia writes music with a modern take on an older sound, drenching it in San Francisco atmosphere.
With multiple singles dropping over the course of Summer – Fall 2026, and a full concept album “adagio” coming in early 2027, Dalmatia is looking forward to a packed calendar of gigs, releases, and exciting announcements from now through next year.
Their music is part of a greater story… in the marine layer.
